Gregory is the Investment Head at Edge Growth and Co-founder of Lighthouse Ventures. Greg spent the first part of his career in the field of supply chain consulting where he gained significant experience in process re-engineering, optimisation, strategy and financial project evaluation techniques, working in Johannesburg and Europe. During this period, he delivered multiple financial due diligence and supply chain solutions for multi-national pharmaceutical firms. Greg was part of the founding team of the Edge Cape Town office as well as the ASISA Enterprise Development Fund. In his current role Greg is responsible for overseeing the investment team on the deal making function for early stage investments into the supply chains of ASISA members, representing the majority of South Africa’s asset managers and life insurers.
Laura is a qualified lawyer and works as a senior associate in the Public Interest law department at Norton Rose Fulbright, an international law firm with offices in more than 50 cities worldwide. She holds a BSocSci in Politics and Law as well as an LLB from the University of Cape Town. She has experience interning at Ndifuna Ukwazi, the United Nations Refugee Rights Unit as well as alongside human rights advocate Anton Katz. Her passion lies broadly in social justice and particularly in education, refugee rights and children’s rights.
Alecia is a lecturer in the Department of Political Studies at UCT. Alecia is currently completing her PhD in International Relations through Wits University. She holds a BA in International Relations and Applied Economics as well as an MA (Cum Laude) in International Relations. Her main research and teaching interests are in political economy, African politics and quantitative methods. Her thesis combines cross-national statistical research and fieldwork in four African countries — Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia. Alecia has won numerous awards including the Carnegie Global Change Award and she has been named a Social Science Research Council (SSRC) Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa research fellow. She has also taken home the School of Social Science Research Award, the Feroza Adams Award and a University Council Scholarship.
Goolam is the co-author of Financial Accounting: GAAP Principles, and an adjudicator for, “The EY Excellence in Integrated Reporting” survey. He is also an independent, non-executive director of various companies. Goolam brings with him a wealth of expertise and experience in teaching that helps shape the design and implementation of all educational aspects of the Just Grace Youth Development Programme.
Khulukasi is a community member in Langa Township. She founded “Keep Them Safe”, an NGO based in Langa that uplifts children in the community through sport.
Khulu is well known and respected in the community and she provides invaluable guidance that allows Just Grace to stay relevant to the community’s needs.
Namhla has a passion for her community and she uses her time and talents to uplift Langa. Namhla is currently studying IT at Cape Town College and has her sights set on becoming a business women. Namhla provides Just Grace with insight into its programmes from the perspective of an alumni. She also represents the voices of all past alumni.
Nozibele is a social worker who is passionate about bringing social cohesion and healing in Langa Township. She is a mother of 3 who is dedicated to strengthening families in the community.
Grant is the executive director at Just Grace. He is a qualified chartered accountant and holds an MPhil in Public Law from UCT. He co-founded Just Grace NPC in 2012 and has served as the Executive Director since 2018. He has received various awards in this capacity, including the South African Shining Star Award For Contribution To Education and the Surve Philanthropies Award For Contribution Towards Social Justice In Education. Grant is passionate about social justice and believes in implementing innovative solutions that empower community members to live out their full potential.
Annie, a qualified maths teacher, is passionate about working with young people because they are amazing, fun, resilient and have so much potential. She loves connecting with youth and through the connection contribute by helping them create structure in their lives, as well as providing tools which will assist them to grow and develop into the people they were created to be.
Nomalizo is a community worker who has studied basic counselling skills through FAMSA. She is a social justice champion who is driving grassroots change in Langa. As a mother of 5, she is passionate about developing the Langa community to make it a place where children can flourish.
Lindiwe is responsible for growing the organisation, forming partnerships and securing donor funding. Her wish is for Langa to be a place where there are opportunities for all who reside here and or the community to have access to quality education, healthcare and housing.
Wanga is a lively individual who loves spending time with friends and listening to music. A past Just Grace Alumnus, Wanga is currently studying to be a social auxiliary worker.
Thobeka is a qualified social worker who is dedicated to making a difference in her community. She enjoys working with parents, learners, community members and other stakeholders to form a collaborative response to development in Langa.
Leona holds a B.Com in Business Informatics and has a passion for uplifting youth from disadvantaged communities. She is responsible for running various workshops in our youth development programme.
Merveil is a qualified Barista with a love for a fresh cup of coffee in the morning. He holds a degree in Geology and is passionate about youth development.
Zolani, a qualified social worker, is passionate about making a difference in the community of Langa. He is especially passionate about running development programmes for at-risk youth and seeing them develop into the future leaders of their communities.
Nophelo is a mother of 3 who is passionate about education in Langa. She assists us with capturing of beneficiary data.
Just Grace is a non-profit company with the overarching objective of poverty alleviation in Langa, Cape Town.
